In the other Olympic League game, Port Angeles shocked Olympic 66-63 on a three-point shot at the buzzer. In the Narrows League, Wilson tripped South Kitsap 43-35 on the Rams’ home floor.
Central Kitsap 71, Bremerton 61 – Rasmussen added 14 rebounds, three steals and four blocked shots as Central Kitsap rebounded from a 19-point loss in its last game. Bremerton fell to 1-7 for the season.
“Our team basketball was the best we’ve played this year,” said CK John Sitton. “We have really worked hard in practice on our team play and how we feel about ourselves.”
Rasmussen was the force inside but Concepcion and Dozier, each with 16, controlled the backcourt. Another guard, Ken Hall, added five rebounds.
The Cougars broke the game open with a 21-9 run in the third quarter and coasted down the stretch.
For Bremerton, Casey Lindberg buried 5-of-6 shots from three-point range and finished with 19 points. Sophomore DeForrest Phelps drew his first starting call and finished with an impressive 16-point outing.
The victory, coupled with Olympic’s loss, enabled the Cougars to keep pace in the AAA portion of the league race with Olympic and Port Angeles. CK, 3-5 overall and 2-1 in the league, visits Olympic Friday night.
